What is the Heathrow Animal Reception Centre?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Heathrow Animal Reception Centre is the UK\u2019s official border control post for live animals arriving by air at Heathrow. Run by the City of London<\/a> Corporation, it has been operating since 1977 and is the only facility at Heathrow licensed to handle every animal species \u2014 from dogs and cats to reptiles, birds, horses and even tropical fish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It sits just outside the southern perimeter of the airport<\/a>, close to Terminal 4. Every year roughly 22,000 dogs and cats pass through its doors, along with hundreds of horses and many thousands of other animals. The staff are experienced, the facilities are species-appropriate, and your pet is in genuinely good hands while the mandatory checks take place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What happens when your pet arrives<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
