The Distance and Route<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Gatwick sits south of London<\/a> in West Sussex<\/a>; Heathrow is to the west in the borough of Hillingdon. The road journey between them is around 45 miles, heading up the M23 and around the western arc of the M25. There’s no shortcut \u2014 the orbital motorway is the route every driver takes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Journey Time<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Expect around 45 to 60 minutes in good conditions. The M25 is unpredictable, though, and at peak times the same trip can take 90 minutes or longer. Because I track your flight and live traffic, I adjust your pickup if your Gatwick arrival shifts, and I choose the fastest available route on the day rather than a fixed one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Train vs Private Transfer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There’s no direct train from Gatwick to Heathrow. The rail route funnels you through central London \u2014 Thameslink to Farringdon and then the Elizabeth line out to Heathrow \u2014 with luggage, changes, and at least 80 to 90 minutes of travel. A private transfer skips all of that: I meet you at the terminal and take you straight across, helping with your bags from start to finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Making a Tight Connection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you’re booked on separate tickets, give yourself plenty of room \u2014 four hours or more between landing at Gatwick and departing Heathrow is sensible once you account for reclaim, the drive, and check-in.
