The journey is around 25 to 30 miles, but because it cuts across or around London, the route choice matters enormously. Depending on the time of day, the quickest path might be the M4 and through the city, or a loop around on the M25 and A13 into the Docklands. I judge it on the day based on live conditions.

This is the trip where traffic makes the biggest difference. Off-peak it can be around 50 minutes to an hour; in heavy London traffic it can take 90 minutes or more.
