How Far Is Gatwick from Stansted?
Gatwick sits south of London in West Sussex; Stansted is northeast in Essex. By road the journey is around 70 to 72 miles, typically heading up the M23 to the M25 and then clockwise round the eastern side of London before joining the M11 north to Stansted. It crosses almost the entire span of the capital’s orbital.
Journey Time
On a clear run, expect around 90 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes. The big variable is the Dartford Crossing on the eastern M25, which can add serious delays at peak times. Why a Private Transfer Beats the Train
There’s no direct train between Gatwick and Stansted. The rail route runs through central London — Gatwick to Victoria, across to Liverpool Street, then the Stansted Express — taking two to two and a half hours with multiple changes and all your luggage. For a journey this long with a connection to make, a door-to-door transfer is far less stressful.
Connecting Flights
